The Church of the Resurrection is a neighbourhood parish in the Anglican tradition, located in Toronto’s East End, and we are joining God in the renewal of our lives, our homes, our neighbourhood, and our city. We believe that our mission is to know Christ and make Him known in our lives and relationships. We believe in pursuing justice in our homes and communities; seeking spirituality among the people of God; digging into authentic community with our friends and neighbours; and seeking to see and restore the beauty in all things.
We believe that Jesus came to save us, He went to the cross for us, and He calls us to follow him. Our service to the community and each other is rooted in our service to Jesus. We deeply value the fun in community, and we look for any excuse to cook, eat, play music, and be together. We are a welcoming community and your background or present state has no bearing on your welcome into our church family. We care for each other in our joy, and also in our brokenness. We all struggle with situations in life and work hard to support each other during difficult times.
The Spirit of God is at work in Toronto’s East End: on our streets, in our lives, amongst our relationships. This happens when we hold babies. Call each other by name. Share meals. Hold hands. As we worship. As we gather in our brokenness. As we acknowledge our togetherness. God is at work powerfully here, and we bear witness to it and join Him as a part of His divine story. Together, at the Rez, we are gathering in groups large and small to develop authentic community and create disciples as we work out our faith in relationship to each other and the world around us. We are all — old and young, regardless of means or background — co-pilgrims on this journey. We all have a part to play. And this happens in worship. In the garden. Over dinner. At the park. In joy and through tears. And we do it together.
